Alliance & Leicester Credit Cards
The Alliance & Leicester was formed when the Alliance and Leicester building societies merged in 1985. It became the first building society to acquire a clearing bank when it bought Girobank from the Post Office in 1990. It then demutualised and became a bank in 1997.
These days Alliance & Leicester is perhaps best known for a range of excellent current accounts but it also offers credit cards and personal loans.
Alliance & Leicester’s range of credit cards are provided by card giant MBNA.
Like most of its rivals, it offers a 0% balance transfer deal - 12 months at the time of writing - and 24-hour access to your account on the phone or online.
