Barclaycard Credit Cards

One of the most famous credit card brands on the market, Barclaycard provides products in the UK, the US, many parts of Europe and beyond.

Barclaycard was the UK’s very first credit card and was initially offered in 1966 by Barclays Bank.

The brand has masterminded several highly successful advertising campaigns since then, featuring actors and comedians such as Dudley Moore, Rowan Atkinson, Angus Deayton and Jennifer Saunders.

Barclaycard is now accepted at over 22 million locations in more than 200 countries. It issues credit and charge cards to both corporate and private customers, as well as the UK government.

It has pioneered a number of important developments over the years: Barclaycard was the UK’s first ATM card, and the first to offer internet banking to its customers. It used to also be part of the Nectar reward card scheme, but ended the relationship in 2005.

In September 2007, Barclaycard launched a new, three-in-one credit card (called the Barclaycard OnePulse) in London. This combines Oyster, credit and cashless facilities, so people can buy everyday essentials -- such as a coffee, paper or Oyster travel -- as well as larger purchases, all on one card.

It’s worth noting that the typical APR of a Barclays Bank credit card varies with the base interest rate set by the Bank of England.
